A realistic look at the rise and fall of four well-known skateboard heroes.
D.O.P.E. — Death or Prison Eventually — the title says it all. This was the fate of many of the world’s most famous skateboard athletes of the 70’s and 80’s. Legendary world champion skateboarders, Jay Adams (Dog Town’s Z Boys), Bruce Logan (Logan Earth Skis) and world champions Christian Hosoi, and Dennis Martinez were on top of the world when skateboarding was in its infancy in the early 1970’s. Too much money, too many drugs and sudden fame brought their world’s crashing down around them, but they fared better than some. They lived. Tracing the highs and lows of these trendsetting individuals through personal accounts from friends and relatives who witnessed their near destruction, D.O.P.E. is an intense look at the dangers of drug use. Religion and rehab saved the lives of these guys who want to share the message - extreme sports do NOT require extreme lifestyles. Producers Dennis and Chris Martinez will be in attendance.
