An aging actor in a childrens theatre group in provincial Russia struggles with his identity and his uncertain future.
In this thoroughly engaging dark comedy from the Russian Federation, comes a story of struggling actor, Arcady (Alexei Bashirov.) Now in his 40s, surrounded by aging, drunken actors playing pigs, goats and other barnyard creatures, Arcady has spent the last ten years playing only the role of the Rabbit in the small childrens theatre. Arcady is divorced and now lives in the theatre. He realizes he will probably never play anything other than a rabbit for an audience of youngsters, so he figures theres not much to lose when he adlibs some random text from Shakespeare during the performance. His fellow actors do not support him. The only person who admires him is the young actress playing the silent role of the Mushroom. One day the theatre finds a sponsor, the owner of sausage shops, who promises money for a new play. Unexpectedly, Arcady gets the leading role
