SLOIFFThis wacky documentary takes us on a journey into the fascinating world of “larping” (that’s “live-action role playing”) with the staff and players of NERO-Seattle.

Do you love Dungeons and Dragons? How about World of Warcraft? Never heard of either? No matter. Welcome to NERO-Seattle, a world of pure fantasy, inhabited by sea elves, undead lizards and countless other imaginative characters. Join director Cullen Hoback and witness a live-action event for fantasy role-players in Washington State. For 48 consecutive hours — no breaks, no sleeping! — players and their support staff come together for a serious bit of “larping” — live-action role playing — in the woods outside of Seattle. In this rare and wonderful peek into a world completely unlike our own, you’ll examine the fine lines between fantasy and reality, between sanity and — well, you be the judge, and watch ordinary humans transformed into extraordinary heroes, villains, and all things in between. This is Monster Camp, where you can be anyone (or anything) you want to be. Director/producer, Cullen Hoback will be in attendance. Documentary. USA. 1 hr. 19 m. Screens with The Recordist.
