Oberschule
Sponsored by Karlen Design

Saturday, March 8 — 1:00pm Palm Theatre World Premiere

SLOIFFA modern take on the German Expressionist silent film genre while poking fun at high school stereotypes.

Director Amanda Beggs remembers high school as “the perfect microcosm of life. Every stereotype exists within its walls.” Using black and white film and title cards in lieu of dialogue, Oberschule is a 1920’s style film that takes place in a non-descript high school in the 50’s. Evo-style makeup and off-balance set pieces accentuate the creativity of this story of a meek, unpopular teen who just wants to fit in. He is persuaded to run for Student Body President but circumstances beyond his control threaten his success…and popularity. Comedy/silent. USA. 15 m. Screens with The Little Red Truck.
