Alien creature or lost party girl? Charlie finally has something to believe in beyond getting high. Or does she?

Have you ever thought about the meaning of your life, like there’s some important role you need to play at some point in your life? So does lost and troubled college student Charlie Hall (Brit Marling), who has a potentially brilliant singing career ahead of her that she has all but thrown away because of all her partying. Then one evening she meets elderly conspiracy theorist Avis Dauphin (Annie O’Donnell), who seems to believe that Charlie is an alien life form who was meant to witness and record one great event on earth for some civilization out in space. Avis calls her a recordist, and Charlie thinks she’s insane. Charlie begins to wonder if all the randomness of her life is building towards one single moment — and in one graphic scene, she finally has her evidence. Directed with promise and brilliance by American Film Institute (AFI) Fellow Zal Batmanglij who will attend the screening. Drama. USA. 20 min. Screens with Monster Camp.
