Which is better: a comfortable but relatively poor life in Mexico or a prosperous life in the U.S.?
Ignacio and Marina, a young Mexican couple, have different perspectives on what is best for their four-year-old sons future. Marina is waiting for a loan to start a family business there in Mexico, while Ignacio, who has been working illegally off and on across the border, thinks they should move to the U.S. When Ignacio learns of an executive order issued by President Bush in 2002, which offered expedited citizenship to foreign nationals, but only if they agreed to sign up for the fight against terrorism, Ignacio decides to join the U.S. Army against his wifes wishes. Marina is left behind with some heartrending decisions. Director Miles Merritt offers a sensitive, endearing film of a woman and a man both set upon the noble cause of the American dream. English and Spanish with subtitles. Director Miles Merritt and Executive Producer Gail Kempler will be in attendance. Drama. Mexico/USA. 20 min. Screens with Compañeras.
